A Tall Tale…
As the story goes, Tall Guy Brewing has been a dream of mine since college.
I first became interested in beermaking as a microbiology student at Cal Poly, when I came across homebrewing in a textbook. I’d always been fascinated with microbes, and I liked drinking beer, but I’d never thought much about the production of it. I became intrigued. Growing up, my dad had brewed beer in our kitchen, so I collected his old equipment and started brewing myself, sharing my results with my appreciative dorm buddies. Read More . . .
One Wit (To The Body)
This Witbier, an ancient style of wheat beer native to Belgium, is traditionally spiced with coriander seed & bitter orange peel. Unfiltered, naturally hazy, & light-colored with notes of coriander & citrus. Light bitterness, a very refreshing summer brew. 4.5% ABV.
Munoz Especial
TEMPORARILY OUT
A Mexican-style lager, this light-bodied, light-colored brew is typical of domestic examples on the market. Can be considered a Vienna lager as Brewmasters of central Europe brought their practices when they migrated to the New World in the 19th century & established breweries in Mexico. Cold-brewed, crisp & refreshing. 4.85 ABV.
Must Be Helles
A classic Bavarian Helles, brewed with 100% imported German malts & hops. The Helles style, originating in mid-19th century Bavaria, is Germany’s response to the Bohemian Pilsner. Light-colored-He//es means “light” in German-but less bitter & more malt-forward than a Pils, consistent with other Bavarian beers, like Hefeweizen. Munich Lager yeast gives Oktoberfest flavor. 5.5% ABV.
Dad’s Milk Stout
An English-style beer, brewed with 100% imported UK ingredients. The addition of lactose to this nitro-infused stout produces a creamy texture and unforgettable finish. It’s worth the wait for the nitro pour! 6% ABV. 18 IBU
Little Yellow Pils
Little Yellow Pils is a classic Bohemian Pilsner. Like the original, this beer has firm bitterness to provide a dry, thirst-quenching finish. All European malts and noble Saaz hops make this Pils authentic to style. Fermented cold with Czech Pils yeast. 5.5% ABV.
Franklin St. Pale IPA
A modern, heavily dry-hopped Pale Ale. Hopped like an IPA but with the light body and low alcohol content of a Pale Ale. Franklin St. Pale Ale is a “sessionable,” refreshing beer, sure to appease the hop-heads out there. Azacca and Galaxy hops provide the tropical/citrusy aromatics of this delicious Pale Ale. 4.85% ABV, 30 IBU.
GUNGA DENNY IPA
A 90’s-era IPA. A big, amber ale at with a whopping dose of bitterness. Hopped five times in the kettle, exclusively with Centennial hops, and again with a heavy dose of Centennial dry-hops to the fermenter for a floral, spicy aromatic finish. You’ll find nothing tropical, citrusy or hazy about this throwback IPA.
8.25% ABV, 90 IBU
Hazy Mama IPA
Hazy Mama is a modern Hazy IPA with heavy tropical and citrus aromas from heavy doses of late hops to the whirlpool and multiple doses of dry hops to the fermenter. The classic hazy hops, Citra and Mosaic, are joined by Roy Farms Azacca and Australia’s Galaxy hops. Raw Wheat and Rolled Oats in the grist contribute the haze in the glass and silky texture on the tongue. 6.3% ABV, 45 IBU
